On Ethics and Effectiveness #3
Perhaps you’ve heard about the unprecedented race for Republican Party Central (County) Committee in Districts 1, 2 and 3. In Josh Molina’s “Santa Barbara Talks Podcast” of February 19th - Episode 306 “What’s Wrong with Santa Barbara Republicans” Dale Francisco, GOP Analyst and former Santa Barbara City Councilman sheds some light on the matter beginning at minute 14:48.
The segment regarding the Central Committee runs about 8 minutes. Here are just a few of Mr. Francisco’s comments that speak to both the ethics and the effectiveness of the current Central Committee, chaired by Bobbi McGinnis since 2019.
“Appalling to me is that the current leadership on the Republican Central Committee have -- they've endorsed themselves on the slate. Which to me is…I mean that's straight out unethical. That should not happen. And no matter who ends up winning this race, the first thing they should do is change their bylaws so that that can't happen again.”
“Central Committee should be running their own campaigns. They should not be benefiting from the money that donors have contributed —I'm sure assuming that what they're contributing for is helping to elect Republicans to governmental office.”[speaking about the current Central Committee leadership] “…it seems poorly organized. I'll just put it that way and maybe it's time. The thing with the promoting themselves on the slate Mailer is to me disqualifying. But even aside from that, the fact that the Central Committee just doesn't seem to be accomplishing much, maybe it's time to put some new people in and see if we can get better results.”
